In this video, I will show you how to open a newer version SketchUp file in an older version. This is a common problem when you receive a file from someone who is using a newer version of SketchUp than you are.
Solution:
There are two ways to open a newer version SketchUp file in an older version:
-
Use the “Save As” feature:
- Open the newer version SketchUp file in the older version.
- Click on “File” and then “Save As”.
- In the “Save As” dialog box, select the version of SketchUp you want to save the file in from the “Save as Type” drop-down menu.
- Click on “Save”.
-
Use the “Eneroth Open Newer Version” plugin:
- Install the “Eneroth Open Newer Version” plugin.
- Open the newer version SketchUp file in the older version.
- Click on “File” and then “Open Newer Version”.
- Select the file you want to open from the list.
Here are some additional things to keep in mind:
- When you save a newer version SketchUp file in an older version, some features may be lost or corrupted.
- The “Eneroth Open Newer Version” plugin is not available for all versions of SketchUp.
I hope this helps!
Here are some additional tips:
- If you are working on a shared project, make sure everyone is using the same version of SketchUp.
- If you need to open a newer version SketchUp file in an older version, try to get the file converted to an older version.
- If you cannot open a newer version SketchUp file in an older version, you can try using a third-party file converter.
